Add your first buyer
This article walks the two-part buyer setup: create the Buyer user, then attach that buyer inside a campaign and verify delivery with Test Buyer Integration. You cannot finish campaign buyer configuration until the user account exists.
Follow both parts in order. Most first-campaign delays come from skipping the Manage Users step.
What is a buyer in Datahubb?
A buyer is the demand side of a campaign: the client or partner who receives qualifying leads and pays for them. Setup has two layers:
| Layer | Where | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer user | Manage Users | Login identity, role, and company record |
| Campaign buyer | Campaign Buyers tab | Price, delivery method, caps, schedule, and filters for that program |
The same Buyer user can be attached to multiple campaigns with different prices and delivery settings on each.
Prerequisites
- Admin access to your Datahubb workspace
- An email address for the buyer contact
- A campaign ready for buyer attachment
- Buyer delivery details (how they want to receive leads)
Part 1: Create the Buyer user
- Open Manage Users from the sidebar (or Settings → Manage Users, depending on your nav).
- Click Add User.
- Enter First Name, Last Name, Email Address, and password fields as prompted.
- Enter Company Name if shown.
- Set Role to Buyer.
- Assign campaigns if the form asks for campaign access now.
- Click Create User (or the equivalent save action).
- Complete any invite steps so the account exists before you configure the campaign.
Important: the campaign Buyers tab can only attach users that already exist with the Buyer role.
Part 2: Attach the buyer on the campaign
- Go to Campaigns and open the campaign.
- Open the Buyers tab.
- Click Add Buyer.
- Select the Buyer user from Part 1.
- Choose Buyer Type (for a first setup, cost per lead is common).
- Choose a Delivery Method (direct post, ping/post, email, or store are the usual starting options).
- Enter the Price the buyer pays when they purchase.
- Complete the delivery settings the form shows for your chosen method.
- Set optional Schedule and Caps if you already know daytime hours or volume limits.
- Click Save.
- Confirm the buyer appears on the Buyers tab as active (or activate them if created inactive).
Test Buyer Integration
Before live traffic, verify the buyer can receive a test from Datahubb.
- From the campaign Buyers tab, open the buyer.
- Click Test Buyer Integration.
- Use the test modal to send a sample payload against the buyer's delivery setup.
- Read the response panel. Confirm the buyer endpoint or inbox behaves as you expect.
- Fix delivery settings and re-test until the response looks right.
- Optionally send a full campaign test lead next (see Test before you go live).
Tips and gotchas
- User creation and campaign attachment are separate. If Add Buyer cannot find the person, return to Manage Users.
- Cloned buyers may start inactive. Activate them only after you review delivery settings.
- Caps and schedules silently skip buyers. A "missing" buyer on the timeline is often offline or capped, not broken.
- Match delivery method to how the buyer actually buys. Do not pick ping/post unless they can respond to pings.
- For delivery method details, see Buyer delivery methods.
Expected result
A Buyer user exists, that buyer is attached to the campaign with price and delivery configured, and Test Buyer Integration returns a response you trust before go-live.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I select my buyer on the campaign? The user is missing, not invited yet, or not assigned the Buyer role. Fix that in Manage Users, then retry Add Buyer.
Can one buyer user sit on many campaigns? Yes. Configure price, delivery, caps, and schedules per campaign attachment.
Do I have to test before every change? Re-run Test Buyer Integration after URL, mapping, or method changes. Skip only when you changed unrelated labels.
What delivery method should I use first? Many programs start with direct post to one buyer. Use ping/post when buyers will bid or pre-qualify. Email and store cover simpler or internal workflows.
Where do I see live cap usage? Open the buyer and check the Overview tab when available. It shows used versus capped volume and budget.
What if the test succeeds but live leads fail? Compare schedules, caps, buyer filters, and whether the live lead data differs from your test payload. Use the lead timeline for the failing lead.
